COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 24, 2022) – Junior beach volleyball athletes from across the United States will have the chance to train like Olympians and Paralympians this summer as part of the USA Volleyball National Team Development Program’s Beach Summer Training Series, a residential training program at historic Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.
“We’re really excited about hosting the Beach National Team Training Series here at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center,” Spencer Jamison, Vice President/Business Development at CVEATC, said. “USA Volleyball is a fantastic organization, and we look forward to growing our relationship and supporting these athletes through our world class facilities.”
Training at Chula Vista will run July 25-August 1, 2022. Girls and boys will train separately with the girls taking the sand July 25-28 and boys July 29-August 1.
Athletes will undergo four days of training focused on NTDP’s five pillars: Craft, Mind, Body, Heart and Team. Sessions will take place both on the sand and in the classroom.
“USA Volleyball is excited to host our first NTDP resident program at the former United States Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California,” USA Volleyball Chief of Sport Peter Vint said. “The beach volleyball facilities were purpose-built and sit immediately adjacent to the strength and conditioning venue. Set on a beautiful landscape, the CVEATC provides onsite athlete housing, excellent dining, and centralized meeting spaces, making this an ideal location for athletes and staff to focus on high quality training and competition. In addition, based on feedback from our coaches, athletes and their families after previous Beach NTDP events, we have transitioned the Beach Summer Training Series to a resident program in order to provide athletes and staff more time to establish relationships and friendships, and build a shared sense of Team USA!”
Invitations to the Beach Summer Training Series will be sent following the Spring Training Series in May. Athletes will be identified and invited based upon recommendations from the NTDP Scouting Network, which consists of coaches and experts from across the United States.
