U.S. Women’s Beach Soccer National Team Hold An 18-Player Training Camp in Chula Vista

By Nick Gasparro

Chula Vista, CA – The Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center is excited to welcome back the United States Women’s Beach Soccer National Team (Beach WNT) to campus. A total of 18 players will be participating in the training camp, accompanied by eight staff members, which will run through February 21 – 27. During their stay at the CVEATC, the Beach WNT will have access to our state-of-the-art beach volleyball courts and gym, sports therapy building, overnight stay in our dormitories and dining services (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). This is the second time that the Beach WNT has trained at the CVEATC, the last being a training camp in August 2022.

This year’s Beach WNT training camp will serve as an evaluation and preparation for the ANOC World Beach Games Qualifiers this coming April. Beach WNT Head Coach Morgan Church will be overseeing the training camp. Church has been the head coach of the U.S. Women’s Beach Soccer National Team since May of 2021.

The roster selected for the training camp at the CVEATC features experienced players including co-captains Jeane Sunseri-Warp and 2022 U.S. Beach Soccer Female Player of the Year Ali Hall, and the team’s all-time leading scorers Lauren Leslie and Kilee Quigley, along with six uncapped players.

The Beach WNT is coming off a historic 2022 season, as the team captured its first trophy when they won the 2022 El Salvador Beach Soccer Cup last April, defeating Argentina, Bahamas and host nation El Salvador along the way.

Specific dates and the location for the ANOC World Beach Qualifiers have not yet been announced. Team USA will be seeking one of two CONCACAF berths in the 12-team field at the 2023 ANOC World Beach Games in Bali, Indonesia on August 5-12.

The Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center would like to wish the United States Women’s Beach Soccer National Team the best of luck as they continue their preparations to qualify for the 2023 ANOC World Beach Games and hope to see them again for another training camp soon.
