Chula Vista, CA – The Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center is excited to be hosting the 2023 U.S. Paralympics Track & Field National Championships presented by Toyota, taking place May 18-20. The competition will feature some of the best para-athletes from across the country, all vying for a chance to represent the United States at the World Championships. The event will free and open to the public, with food and beverages available for purchase.
The championships are open to athletes who meet certain eligibility requirements. These include having a 2023 World Para Athletics athlete license, having met a National Championships entry standard between January 1, 2022 and May 14, 2023, and having a national classification status of NP, NN, NC, or NR, or an international classification status of R, R with a fixed review date, or C.
Guest Paralympic athletes from other countries will also be allowed to compete, provided they have a World Para Athletics athlete license. Athletes will be able to scratch/add eligible events until May 5, 2023, 11:59pm Mountain Time.
Athletes and coaches must complete registration by April 21, 2023, 11:59pm Mountain Time. The athlete registration fee is $75, while coach and athlete assistant registration is $35. Guide athletes and athlete assistants can register for free by using the code GUIDE2023 during checkout.
Athletes who require equipment storage will be able to store their equipment at the competition venue from May 16, 2023. Unfortunately, transportation assistance will not be provided for the championships.
Athletes and their families will have the option of staying at the Hampton Inn Chula Vista Eastlake or the Ayres Hotel Chula Vista. Both hotels have a limited number of rooms available, and reservations must be made by April 12, 2023, to receive the competition rate.
The event schedule includes classification sessions on May 16 and 17, registration and training on May 16 and 17, and the technical meeting on May 17. The competition itself will take place on May 18-20, with Session I scheduled for May 18 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. The competition results and schedule will be announced closer to the event date.
Athletes can purchase meals at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center for $55 per day, which includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All meal tickets must be purchased in advance no later than May 1, 2023. Meanwhile, guests will have the opportunity to either purchase a meal at the event (hamburger/cheeseburger, chips & drinks), or at the CVEATC Champions Food Hall.
