San Diego Wave FC:
San Diego Wave FC (the Wave) is a professional women’s soccer team located in San Diego, California. As an expansion team, the club entered the National Women’s Soccer League in the 2022 season, marking San Diego’s first women’s professional soccer team since 2003, following the dissolution of the Women’s United Soccer Association and the subsequent disbandment of the San Diego Spirit. Led by USWNT star Alex Morgan, the Wave are coming off a season where they clinched the 2023 NWSL Shield, boasting the league’s best record and securing their first trophy in club history in the process.
The Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center provides the perfect backdrop for this youth soccer camp, offering access to state-of-the-art facilities. Participants will have the opportunity to utilize the center’s soccer fields, ensuring an optimal playing environment for skill development and friendly competitions. Additionally, the camp will take advantage of the sports therapy building, allowing athletes access to top-notch recovery resources to enhance their overall well-being.
Ensuring a team-building experience, the Wave has arranged for participants to stay in the center’s dormitories. This not only fosters a sense of camaraderie among the young athletes but also allows them to fully immerse themselves in the camp’s activities. The dormitory setting creates an environment where soccer enthusiasts can share their passion for the sport and form lasting connections.
Nutrition and Wellness:
Recognizing the importance of nutrition in athletic performance, the Wave has secured access to the center’s dining hall. Here, participants will be provided with nutritious meals designed to fuel their bodies and support their intensive training sessions. This focus on wellness extends beyond the soccer fields, emphasizing the holistic development of each participant.
In addition to on-field activities, the camp will utilize conference spaces at the CVEATC for workshops, team meetings, and educational sessions. These spaces provide an opportunity for athletes to gain valuable insights into various aspects of the game, including strategy, sportsmanship, the importance of teamwork, and more.
The San Diego Wave’s commitment to youth development is evident in their return to the CVEATC for their second camp of the year. By consistently providing young athletes with access to world-class facilities and expert coaching, the Wave is contributing to the growth and advancement of soccer at the grassroots level.
As the San Diego Wave takes to the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center for their second youth soccer camp of the year, the excitement is palpable. With a focus on skill development, wellness, and community building, this camp promises to be a memorable experience for all those participating.
