Oregon State Women’s Rowing Team Concludes Successful Winter Training Camp at Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center

By Nick Gasparro

Chula Vista, CA – The Oregon State Women’s Rowing Team recently wrapped up an intensive winter training camp at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center (CVEATC), marking their first collaboration with the CVEATC. From December 31, 2023, to January 6, 2024, a total of 45 participants from the Oregon State team immersed themselves in a week of rigorous training, taking full advantage of the world-class amenities this Olympic Training Site has to offer.

The training camp offered the Beavers a holistic experience, providing them with access to various facilities designed to enhance their performance. The team enjoyed overnight accommodations in the CVEATC dormitories, ensuring they had a comfortable and convenient base for their week of intense training. The state-of-the-art boathouse and expansive lake allowed the rowers to practice and refine their skills against the picturesque backdrop of Chula Vista.

In addition to the on-water training, the Beavers had the opportunity to utilize CVEATC’s strength and conditioning center, equipped with top-notch facilities tailored to meet the specific needs of elite athletes. This aspect of the training camp played a crucial role in preparing the Oregon State rowers for the challenges that lie ahead in the 2024 NCAA Rowing season.

Ensuring the athletes were well-nourished throughout their stay, CVEATC provided comprehensive dining services, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The carefully curated meals were designed to fuel the rowers, optimizing their energy levels and aiding in their recovery after demanding training sessions.

All of us at the CVEATC were thrilled to host the Beavers for the very first time. It was a pleasure to witness their dedication and hard work throughout the week. We hope that this experience has contributed to their preparation for the upcoming season, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to host them again next year.

As the Oregon State Women’s Rowing Team departs Chula Vista, they carry with them the knowledge and skills gained during this intensive winter training camp, setting the stage for a promising and successful 2024 NCAA Rowing season.
