Chula Vista, CA – The Washington Spirit, a prominent team in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), recently chose Chula Vista for their preseason preparations ahead of their 12th season. The Spirit opted for the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center (CVEATC) as the venue for their training camp, showcasing a strategic move to enhance their readiness for the upcoming season.
A total of 59 athletes and staff members participated in the training camp, held from January 26 to February 8, 2024. This preseason camp provided the team with a focused and intensive preparation period, making the most of the top-notch facilities at CVEATC during their inaugural visit.
CVEATC proved to be an ideal host, offering exclusive access to state-of-the-art soccer fields, a well-equipped strength and conditioning center, and a sports therapy building for essential massages and ice baths. The center also facilitated tactical discussions and analysis with dedicated conference spaces. Notably, the Spirit had the unique opportunity to collaborate with the U.S. Blind Soccer National Team, gaining insights into the game.
In addition to these top-notch training resources, the Spirit enjoyed comprehensive amenities at CVEATC, ensuring a comfortable and productive stay. The team resided in the center’s dormitories, fostering an immersive and focused training environment. Moreover, players had access to the CVEATC’s dining hall, guaranteeing nutritious meals with breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughout their stay.
As the training camp concluded, the Washington Spirit bid farewell to CVEATC, expressing gratitude for the hospitality and world-class facilities. The experience at CVEATC proved invaluable, setting a positive tone for the upcoming season.

The Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center rests on a 155-acre complex adjacent to Lower Otay Reservoir. The Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center has sport venues and support facilities for more than a dozen summer Olympic and Paralympic sports, and cross-training abilities for various winter sports. The CVEATC offers support to athletes including housing, dining, training facilities, local transportation, recreational facilities, athlete services and professional development programs. Typically, elite athletes are selected to train here by their respective sport federation or National Governing Body.
