Chula Vista, CA – From March 4th to March 10th, 2024, the University of Minnesota Women’s Rowing Team embarked on an intensive training camp at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center (CVEATC). With a team of 51 athletes and staff members in attendance, the rowers immersed themselves in a week-long regimen aimed at honing their skills and building team cohesion for the upcoming season.
Nestled within the state-of-the-art facilities of CVEATC, “The Gophers” as they are commonly reffered to, had access to a myriad of resources essential for elite athletic development. The team utilized the boathouse and pristine lake for on-water training sessions, while also taking advantage of the strength and conditioning center to fine-tune their physical prowess. Additionally, the center provided conducive meeting spaces for strategy discussions and a dining hall that catered to their nutritional needs with breakfast, lunch, and dinner offerings. For accommodations, the rowers rested in the center’s comfortable dormitories, ensuring they were well-rested and prepared for each day’s challenges.
The culmination of their training camp was a dual meet against Gonzaga, held on March 10th, marking the commencement of their spring competition schedule. Facing off against a formidable opponent, the Golden Gophers demonstrated their readiness to compete at the highest level.
