the chula vista elite athlete training center gets a new look! six new plaques around the olympic torch at the visitor center courtyard

Chula Vista, CA – The Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center (CVEATC), a U.S. Olympic and Paralympic training site, is excited to share the completion of its most recent project around campus to the public. Six brand new plaques can be found nearby the Olympic Torch at the Visitor Center court yard. CVEATC would like to formally thank the Allen-Niesen Family, The Carol Moss Foundation and Kelsey Allen-Niesen for making this project possible with their generous donations. CVEATC would also like to thank V Group, our official signage and print provider, for their professionalism throughout the installation process, and Anytime Sign Solutions for the excellent graphic design job.

Overview of the new plaques:

  • Read about the history of the CVEATC, beginning with its grand opening in 1995 through the transfer of ownership from the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee to the City of Chula Vista in 2017.
  • Explore the history of the Olympic Flame, along with the meanings of the Olympic Rings and the Paralympic Agitos symbol.
  • Find your favorite sports and teams, all the teams that train at CVEATC, from National Governing Bodies, International Federations, Colleges and Universities and Professional Teams are listed.
  • Search for your favorite athletes, all the Olympic & Paralympic Medalists from both the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Olympic & Paralympic Games who trained at the CVEATC, almost 25% of the entire Team USA athlete delegation for Tokyo winning 93 medals, are listed along with their event(s).
